In this episode, Dr. Robert Svoboda explores intuition and the practice of listening to inner knowing.

The Sanskrit word that is most used for intuition is Ishtabala, meaning literally the strength of your beloved deity, whoever that might be that would often make you think that, that your intuition is coming from above somewhere, and sometimes it may come from above, but it might just as easily come from below from the Earth. Particularly because often the best way to access your intuition is to become very comfortable with putting your awareness down at your manipura, at your gut.

Because what intuition is, and particularly nowadays, needs to be focused on, as is a gut feeling. Your intuition is something that is a still small voice. In the Bible, Elijah once was listening for a message from God and first there was an earthquake. And it was very dramatic and Elijah thought, oh, this, there must be a message from God in the earthquake. But no, there was no message there. And then there was a giant storm, and Elijah thought, this for sure is a message from God, but he listened carefully.

And no, the giant storm, there was the strong wind. There was no, there was no message there. And then there a big fire came through and he thought for sure, this is, no, sorry. Only when everything became very quiet. Did he hear a very still small voice? And that was what he was listening to for, and that’s what gave him the message he needed to hear. So when we’re listening for intuition, we need to be able to hear a whisper.

So you need to be shut down or at least, put under a pillow, all your social media devices and at least temporarily take all of the chatter that is in your head and put it somewhere else. Minimize it and allow your attention to be maximized on having your awareness be open. For the intuition to be able to express itself. Remember that you often, in fact, usually need to be in your body in order to feel that, because if it’s a real intuition, it will resonating with the prana in your body and you should be able to feel the rightness of that intuition.

Now, if you want to develop your intuition, you’re gonna need to experiment. Because sometimes you will be kind of like Elijah thinking you’re hearing it over here, but actually not hearing it. So you may want to, number one, take a little bit of time, more or less at the same time every day, because that’s what causes your, your organism to start. Making a, a pattern, a habit of doing anything. Start to try to listen for your intuition, maybe first thing in the morning, maybe last thing at night, and start doing a little bit of journaling.

Write down when you felt like you had an intuition and whether it was accurate or not. You, you have to test, you have to find out whether your intuition is accurate or not, because there sadly, I know people who become completely convinced that the intuition they have is accurate and almost never is it accurate. You don’t wanna be that person.

You want to be able to determine when it is accurate, and that’s how you’re gonna refine your knowledge of what that voice is when it comes, how it comes to you, and then you’ll really be able to know when you can rely on a particular sensation, particular message, and when you cannot, and then you will start understanding the real nature of alignment with your intuition.
